Very Late Friday Flashback: Age 17

Another photo with Ash (oh, there were many - it was the days of MySpace, people!) This would have been taken in the summer after I left school - Ash was in Wellington already, and I stayed with her for a few weeks before we found a flat together, because I was starting a flight attending course sooner than the university students started their studies. Her parents rented an apartment in the Museum Hotel, so I guess those few weeks were the most glamorous of my life so far!

Friday Flashback: Age 8

All I can really say about this photo is thank goodness my teeth fixed themselves.

As for that time in my life, the main thing I remember is our golden labrador, Shadow, having puppies. She had a litter of 11 I believe, which was too many for her to care for so a few were put to sleep. Unfortunately she then rolled on and suffocated a couple more while they were still tiny, so in the end my sister and I were left with five to name and play with for a few weeks until they were homed. We named them all after Disney characters - Simba, Nala, Pocahontas... I can't remember what the other two were called.

Friday Flashback: Age 21

I realise these posts have mostly been from recent years so far, purely because it's all I have access to. I'm taking a brief trip home next week though, so will make it my mission to stock up on childhood photos for future posts in this series.

This picture was taken at a leaving dinner for our best friend Dylan (left), before he moved to Auckland for his career. I love this photo because I'm pretty sure it's the only one I have with my two favourite boys in one shot. Charlie and I did go to the same school, but I doubt we'd be together today if we hadn't re-met when we both became friends with Dylan after moving to Wellington - I actually 'met' him through blogging, back in the days of Xanga.

When I was 21, Charlie and I were living in our first apartment together in the CBD, which was right next to my reception job at InternetNZ. During that year, I got my first tattoo, we adopted Wallace, went on a holiday to Australia - life was pretty damn excellent.

Belated Friday Flashback: Age 16

This photo was taken with my good friend (and later, first flatmate) Ash in Martinborough. My Dad rides a motorbike, and we popped in to visit her while out for a ride one weekend (can't remember where we were going/had been now). At this point in my life I was nearing the end of school (I was young for my year, so finished 7th form when I was 17.5), and most definitely over it. Weekends were a lot of fun though, and I have lots of good memories of silly parties and camping trips.

Friday Flashback: Age 19

This photo was taken in Wellington I believe, shortly before I moved from Lower Hutt back into the city. Pictured with me is my friend Alishia, who I occasionally hung out with towards the end of school, but didn't become good friends with until after we left. I think this was taken at a friend's apartment on Vivian Street - it had a good roof space for parties. At age 19, my personal life was pretty much a disaster zone, but just on the verge of getting oh so much better. I would have recently started my first proper (permanent) office job, and would soon move to a wee studio flat on my own (with my cat, Vodie) which was one of the best times of my life so far.

Friday Flashback: Age 3

Rochelle has begun posting flashback photos on Fridays, so I thought I would do the same. I've been hesitant to commit to recurring features and challenge type posts on here lately, but I'm going to attempt this over the next 23 weeks, starting with randomly-generated age three. Wish me luck, indeed.

Pictured below is myself and my little sister Emily in August 1992, modelling some rather adventurous eye wear. The only thing I remember from this year is getting a yellow Mercedes convertible model from my Dad, but I think that's mainly because of another photo. Let me know if you want a DIY tutorial for Emily's glamorous cotton reel necklace, ahem.
