Meeting Offline

Last Monday after work Charlie and I met up with Caitlin and her husband Rob who have been visiting New Zealand from New Mexico, and were in Wellington for one night. After excited/awkward meeting-people-from-the-internet introductions we wandered down Lambton Quay to the cable car - which is so expensive now! I'm sure it was a dollar each way the last time I used it. The weather wasn't great and there's a lot of scaffolding at the top of the cable car right now, so the view of the city wasn't spectacular. We walked back to the city via the Botanic Gardens (which they'd totally heard about h/t FoTC/The Simpsons) and Parliament, then around the waterfront to get beer and pizza at Lovelocks. Which I know isn't the classiest choice but the main reason is that it's two-days-before-payday and I knew gluten-free wasn't a problem there.

I've known a lot of people 'online' over the years and have met and befriended quite a few of the New Zealand ones, and one who came to live in NZ from the UK. But this was the first time I'd met someone who I'd got to know online and was just visiting. It was so much fun just chatting about their trip, our lives, comparing countries. You can read about their whole holiday over on Caitlin's blog - always interesting to see a visitor's perspective on the country, and they did a lot of hiking and exploring rather than the tourist hotspots which is awesome.

Five days of work to go until my Christmas break. I absolutely cannot wait, but this week will probably be pretty intense. Also, up until Christmas I am doing a sort-of Vlogmas on my YouTube channel - I'm not sure they're terribly interesting but it's great speaking practice and putting them together every few days is pretty fun. Watch them below, or watch the whole playlist here.

Twenty-Three

Another awkward vlog documenting some cute gifts from my 23rd birthday last week. Abundance of 'um's and a leopard print-related continuity error - just pointing it out before anyone else does.

Below is my favourite song of the moment, and favourite video clip for a while. Please let me know your music recommendations! Seriously! I listen to all different kinds of music and am willing to give anything a listen. Except perhaps screamo. But even then I'll make exceptions.

Vlog: Ankylosing Spondylitis & Humira

What can I say, I'm a rambler! Have cut it down as best I could, but if anything doesn't make sense or you have questions - let me know! The blog post I refer to can be found here.

Vlog: Moving and Hair

I know, I know, I look like an oompa loompa. It's not a very interesting post, I warn you. Oh, also the purple toner conditioner is called Natural Look Silver Screen Ice Blonde.

I've started a new channel to upload vlogs on for my blog, because all my previous videos have been uploaded to a channel I made in 2007. My best friend/(then) flatmate and I made a channel with the plan of creating vlogs together but that never really happened and it became my channel. It was named after our other flatmate at the time for a laugh, but since I'm not even in contact with him anymore I figured it was about time I changed it- a little weird if someone who knows him now stumbled across this blog!

This was my packing progress late last week, and this stack is about twice the height and width now! Sooo relieved we're getting a moving company.

EDIT

I forgot to say, Wallace was the top photo in Friday's pet blog on NZ news website Stuff. He's been on before, but since he was at the top this time he made the homepage for a little while. Proud!

Oh, hey there.

Hey everyone, I am alive! As I say in this video (which has the worst thumbnail shot to date), I haven't felt like blogging for several days now, but it's definitely not a permanent thing. Just needed time out to avoid this blog becoming miserable like me... not my most exciting video to date, I sound pretty sleepy and say "um" about 50,000 times. But I added two seconds of Wallace climbing down the wall at the end.

Vlog!

Yay, another vlog? Glamorous still for it... Hope you enjoy this one! It has far better lighting than my previous one so should be a bit easier to watch. I answered the following list of questions which are based on those I found on Maryam's Pamplemousse 1983 blog. And as I say in the video- I am sick at the moment so excuse my constant swallowing and slightly nasal voice... I hope it's not normally quite so bad...

Also, I just Googled my answer to question 13, and it seems Goody Goody Gum Drops ice cream may be only made by Tip Top in NZ! Couldn't find too much information on it. So if it's not available in your country, it's basically little fruit flavoured lollies (sweets/candy) mixed through bubblegum flavoured ice cream.

Let me know if you make your own video, I always love watching other bloggers awkwardly stumble their way through questions!
  1. Were you named after anyone?
  2. When was the last time you cried?
  3. How old are you?
  4. Do you have any siblings?
  5. Do you have kids?
  6. If you were another person would you be friends with you?
  7. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
  8. Do you still have your tonsils?
  9. Would you bungee jump?
  10. What is your favourite cereal?
  11. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
  12. Do you think you are strong?
  13. What is your favourite ice cream?
  14. What is the least favourite thing about yourself?
  15. Eye colour?
  16. Favourite dessert?
  17. What is the fartherest you have been from home?
  18. What colour is your house?
  19. What colour is your car?
  20. What would you name yourself if you could pick your name?
