Dotted Line

Hi, friends! It's all been a bit quiet around here for the past wee while, largely due to the fact I've been job hunting. I never try and conceal this blog from people obviously, and even included it in some of my applications when I thought it would be beneficial to me - I feel like it's a pretty accurate representation of myself as a person. But of course, I wanted to be a bit careful about what I was writing, particularly in terms of interviews I was attending and that sort of thing.

Anyway, the search is over! I interviewed for a job I realllly wanted on Thursday afternoon, and was called back with an offer within an hour. So thrilled and excited to get started next week. As with my previous job, it's not something I'll write about in any great detail on here - not because I think I'd ever write something that would get me in trouble but, as with my Twitter account, I don't want there to be any confusion - this is 100% my personal space.

Temping for the past week has been pretty enjoyable - really reenforced my enjoyment of reception work, which is a part of my new permanent role. Also, not having to get up at 5am (at the latest) anymore means I've totally checked another goal off my list, in wearing a decent outfit and applying make up every day for a whole work week.

Almost managed a full week of concealing the toilet in photos, too.

Some time this week I will get around to answering the non-art questions in a vlog, so if there's any last minute things you want to know, leave a comment.

I posted a photo of Wallace on Instagram the other day (no, really?) and Malaika provided the perfect caption (see right). He's the most ridiculous cat.

Nothing else to report, really. On Friday night I had dinner with Charlie, my parents, my younger sister and her boyfriend at Wholly Bagels. Hadn't had their pizza before, and it was pretty much amazing.

Other than that it's been a quiet weekend of washing and sleeping and catching up on X Factor USA (Willie Jones, Jennel Garcia and Nick Perelli; love). And I am so very excited for the Homeland and Dexter series' premieres tonight.

What are y'all looking forward to this week?

Spring

Pink and grey poppies dress from Jay Jays.
Long grey cardigan from Glassons.
Purple paisley scarf from boutique in Left Bank.
Gold Kiss Ring from ASOS.

It's officially spring here in New Zealand, and I'm hoping we can soon say goodbye to multiple layers and excessive heating bills. At the moment the weather is still typically temperamental- last week we had warm sunshine in the morning, and howling southerly winds and extremely heavy hail in the afternoon. Madness, and a frustration when it comes to dressing for work before dawn!

As much as I often miss living in an inner-city apartment, it sure is nice to have a little backyard (and I know, we're still hardly in the suburbs). I absolutely can't wait until summer finally arrives- beers after work on the lawn is going to be bliss!

This week I'm booking flights so I can definitely 100% confirm I'll be going to my friend Vikkie's wedding in November. She's getting married in Whangarei, and I'm sooo excited to spend four days up there. I've never been that far north and I hope the weather will be amazing. I'm also going to my best friend Sarah's birthday in Tauranga in December, so this year is certainly giving me my flying fix!

Can you say botas?

Since the lovely Krystal asked, here are my $100 shoes from Hunters & Collectors. I bought them in 2007 when I was a very irresponsible young lady. They've been well and truly worn over the years, but I haven't taken them out for a walk (nor got them re-soled, obviously) since the heel wore down to expose metal which goes click-click-click on any hard surface. The toes are pretty stuffed anyway. Also, I really avoid wearing heels these days, especially since I quit my reception job. Low wedges at a stretch.

And these two pairs below were purchased more recently, and each cost $20-30. I'm really terrible at this whole 'dressing nice' thing. I know I always say that, but it's really true. I even have a bunch of nice clothes now, but there's still only one or two days in a week where I really put in the effort and look nice. Again, I blame 6am weekday starts.

Yay for the approaching summer, I find it's so much easier to look nice in the summer!
